Requirements
Design Application claiming Convention priority
- Full name, address and nationality of Applicant(s)
- Full name and address of Designer(s)
- Name of article
- Image data of drawings (Basically, six views (front, rear, right side, left side, top, and bottom views)
- Priority application number, date, and country
- Priority certificate (within three months of the filing date of the Japanese application)

Q. What is the duration for design rights?
A. 20 years from the registration date.
Q. What is the time frame from the filing of a design application up to registration?
A. About six months for a straightforward case. If a request for accelerated examination is filed, one can reasonably expect a first action in about two months.
Q. What kind of drawings are required?
A. Ordinarily at least six views are required.
